The Library Media Center is an integral part of Cecil Elementary School. It provides students and teachers with a variety of resources to meet their educational, recreational, and personal needs.
Cecil Elementary Library Media Center has approximately 4,500 titles in the collection. We subscribe to several children's magazines including American Girl, Sports Illustrated for Kids, and National Geographic Kids. We also have a collection of videos, DVD's, and professional resources for the teachers and staff.
The library is a participant of Access PA, a resource-sharing network that allows us to borrow materials from any library in the state of Pennsylvania. We also have access to Power Library, a collection of databases that offer full-text magazine articles, newspaper articles, photographs, and more!
The Library Media Center is open two days per week. Each class is scheduled to visit the library one time during the week for a thirty to forty minute period. Students listen to stories, check out books, and learn skills that will help them use resources and the library effectively.
The goal of the library media program is to inspire all students to become lifelong learners, readers, and dreamers.
