Cecil Elementary School is an inclusive K – 4 elementary school located in the northwest region of the Canon-McMillan School District. It lies just over the border of Allegheny County into Washington County in Cecil, PA. The students who attend this school live in Cecil Township and the nearby community of McDonald.
Cecil Elementary is proud to offer many special programs outside of our regular curriculum, including specialized and individualized instruction for students who demonstrate need, a hands-on science program at all grade levels, the Accelerated Reader program for students in grades one through four, after-school tutoring for students in grades one through four, a strong Character Education program, computers and technological resources available in every classroom (an average of one computer for every four students), portfolio based learning and assessment which provides the opportunity for students to gather and then reflect on their own work, and a strong parent volunteer program which brings parents and community members into our classrooms. In addition, we have an excellent Instructional Support Team (IST) available to assist students with academic or social needs.
The curriculum in every grade provides active, hands-on learning opportunities for all students. Our academic programs are also supported by Art, Vocal and Instrumental Music, Physical Education, and Library. In addition, we offer a one nine week Technology Education class in grades three and four.
