State Representative Visit: Representatives Jesse While and Brandon Neuman visited CMS in May 4th to present an official citation at the school.

Pittsburgh Pirates Jackie Robinson Poetry Contest: Congratulations to Rylee K. on the Titans for winning FIRST place out of 2,700 middle school applicants. Rylee will be recognized at the April 20th Pirate Game. Way to go Rylee!

Carson Scholar Award: Congratulations to Kate D. on the Supernovas for receiving the Carson Scholar Award. Kate was recognized as an exemplary student and role model.

Science Grant: Mrs. Laural Ziemba, Director of Community Relations was at CMS to present a $7,000 check to the CMS Science Department. The money will be used to offset the costs of a new STEM Project-Based Learning Science Project. We'll have more information to share once the project is underway...

Geography Bee: The 7th and 8th Grade Geography Bee was held the week of January 9, 2012 here at CMS.  The event is sponsored by Mr. Manion, Seventh Grade Social Studies. Students from all six 7th and 8th grade academic teams competed for the title of Geography Bee champion by attempting to answer a wide variety of questions relating to both U.S, and world, geography.  After a hard fought battle, 7th grader Andrew of the Titans was able claim the title outlasting 8th grader Arjun of the Hurricanes. Beginning next week, Andrew will be taking the qualifying test for the national geography bee held by National Geographic. Good luck Andrew!

Coaches vs. Cancer: Canonsburg Middle School will be participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising program. On December 22nd, the four homebases that have collected the most money will participate in a basketball tournament in front of the entire school. Mr. Faith, Mr. Dominick, and Mr. Manion are spearheading the event for the school.

Giving Back: Josh M. was recognized recently by Senator Solobay with a Certificate of Recognition for Josh's contributions to the community through his community service. On behalf of Senator Solobay, Dr. Taranto presented Josh with the certificate. Joining Josh was his Supernova Team teachers, Mrs. Porter, Mr. Faith, and Mr. Wolf as well as Josh's mother and grandparents. Way to go Josh!
